About North American Forgemasters
North American Forgemasters, located in New Castle, Pennsylvania, is a joint venture operation and operates as a cost center for NAF’s custom-built 4,500 ton hydraulic forging press. The press complex includes an automated 10-station die change magazine, 8 main hydraulic pumps, and a planishing capability of up to 300 strokes per minute. The press is capable of producing forgings as large as 80,000 pounds.
The facilities also include 2 - 100,000 pound lift capacity mobile manipulators, six forge furnaces, and two slow cool furnaces, each capable of holding more than 1,000,000 pounds of steel.
In 2016, a new forging complex was built by the joint venture partners. Operating as an independent company for ultra-large forgings, NAF markets and produces critical metal components for the power generation, oil and gas, and other industries for customers throughout the world.
The state-of-the-art facility houses a 9,000 metric ton open-die forging press, as well as ancillary equipment to forge cross sections up to 186” and ingots up to 170 tons! The press is the greatest tonnage, largest opening, fastest action, and most reliable open-die press in North America. The complex also includes a 200 metric ton rail bound manipulator and a 100 metric ton mobile manipulator, each the largest in North America.
