ELLWOOD Celebrates Manufacturing Month

ELLWOOD Celebrates Manufacturing Month

October is recognized nationally as Manufacturing Month, a time to highlight the importance of the manufacturing industry and inspire the next generation of creators, builders, and problem-solvers. This year, ELLWOOD was proud to take part in a variety of outreach events designed to introduce students to the many rewarding careers available in our industry.

One highlight of the month was our Manufacturing Day event in Irvine, PA, where students toured ELLWOOD National Crankshaft, ELLWOOD National Forge, and ELLWOOD National Steel. During the tours, students had the chance to see advanced manufacturing processes up close, learn how our teams work together to produce world-class engineered components, and meet with ELLWOOD representatives to explore both educational and career pathways.

We also partnered with Penn-Northwest Development Corporation and the Mercer County Career Center to create and judge a real-world case study challenge. Two student groups were tasked with developing solutions to practical manufacturing scenarios, presenting their ideas to a panel of judges, including our Director of Team Member Relations, Quyrus Epps. The students also had the opportunity to tour our ELLWOOD Crankshaft and Machine location in Hermitage, PA, where students were given a firsthand look at how large-scale, precision manufacturing happens every day. Students then took part in a panel discussion where they could ask questions directly to professionals representing different areas of the company.

In addition to hosting on-site events, ELLWOOD representatives visited classrooms and career fairs across the region, including New Castle, Shenango, Neshannock, and others, to talk directly with students about what manufacturing looks like today. Many were surprised to learn just how many career paths exist - from machining, welding, and engineering to IT, HR, finance, operations, sales, and more.

Modern manufacturing is high-tech, collaborative, and constantly evolving. At ELLWOOD, we believe in investing in the future workforce by helping students discover their strengths, explore new possibilities, and envision themselves in meaningful careers.

To every student, educator, and partner who joined us in celebrating Manufacturing Month - thank you! We're proud to forge the future together.
